Interior Design Masters fans have been left behind after a contestant created an imaginary twin sister for guest judge Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen. Alan Carr was on hand to host the new series on BBC One.
In tonight’s episode (April 6), the final five contestants embarked on their latest project. Chief Justice Michelle Ogundehin sent the group to North Wales to renovate a set of shepherds’ huts.
As usual, Banjo Beale, who was given a coastal theme for his hut, decided to create an imaginary character to keep in mind when designing his room. This week, he imagined Florence Llewelyn-Bowen, the fictional twin sister of interior designer Laurence.

Explaining his inspiration to one of his fellow contestants, Banjo said, “I actually designed this place for his [Laurence’s imaginary] sister, Florence Llewelyn-Bowen. She’s a tough fisherwoman. She loves sea shanties and having beers with the girls by the campfire.”
He continued, “Yeah, she’s got sailor tattoos, she’s weathered. She’s a salty sea dog. She’s the opposite of Laurence and they hate each other.”
Fans loved Banjo’s latest character, taking to Twitter to comment on Florence. Mike @mikecornes tweeted, “Banjo chose Florence Llewelyn Bowen as their character inspiration this week, it’s hilarious.”
Twitter user @SuffolkGael wrote: “‘Florence Llewelyn-Bowen…the salty sea dog sister of Lawrence’ loves Banjo characters for her designs.” Caroline @caroc54 also had fun with the imaginary character of Banjo. She commented: “I love the idea of Laurence Llewellyn-Bowen’s twin sister being a sea bass.”
Ariadne @Ariadne_Reviews added, “The Banjo Cinematic Universe continues to expand to glorious new dimensions.” And Brigid @Briggi44 summed it up: “Banjo, I love you!”
Interior Design Masters airs Wednesdays at 9pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer
