Brenau and Lanier Tech sign articulation agreements for interior design and business courses

“There will be no guesswork as to which classes will transfer to Brenau and which will not,” said interior design department chair Jill DeMarotta. “The goal is to make the process of transferring from one institution to another as efficient and easy as possible for students.”

Brenau is one of five schools in Georgia to offer a professional-level interior design program approved by the Council for Interior Design Accreditation. The designation is achieved through rigorous review by CIDA to ensure that graduating students are industry-ready.

Additionally, the Brenau faculty in the program are qualified by the National Board for Interior Design Qualification. Brenau also offers an online Master of Fine Arts in Interior Design.

A second agreement signed Thursday allows students who want to pursue a degree in accounting or organizational leadership at Brenau to transfer credits from Lanier Tech or one of Georgia’s 21 other technical colleges.

Pennie Eddy, chair of undergraduate programs at the College of Business & Communication, said Brenau would accept eight different accounting courses, more than 10 in management and seven in marketing for a BBA at Brenau.

“The faculty and staff of Lanier Technical College and Brenau University are very pleased to have this articulation agreement in place to give accounting students at Lanier Tech the flexibility to choose how to pursue their education,” Eddy said. “Some accounting students may even decide to further their education beyond a bachelor’s degree with a master’s in accounting at Brenau as they prepare for a career as a certified public accountant.”

The BBA in Accounting and the Brenau MBA in Accounting are accredited by the Accrediting Council for Business Schools and Programs. The university also offers a master’s degree in accounting; accreditation is in progress.

The two articulation agreements were signed at a ceremony Thursday, March 10 on the Lanier Tech campus.
