I’m an interior designer and there’s one color you should NEVER paint in your kitchen – here’s what to choose instead

DECORING any room in your home involves many important decisions that need to be made.

But since most families spend the most time in their kitchen, getting it right is essential.

It turns out the color you paint your kitchen with can make the biggest difference, but picking the wrong one can make the room so claustrophobic.

Ryan McDonough, interior design expert at MyJobQuoteTold Express.co.uk colors that should be avoided at all costs.

He said: “Kitchens are the room in the house where most families spend the majority of their time.

“When painting your kitchen, it’s important to stay away from basic browns, dark shades of reds, greens, purples and blues.

“These shades can really bring your walls inwards.

“It can create a sense of confinement and make kitchens claustrophobic.”

The pro suggested people use the natural light their kitchen already has when decorating to help give the illusion of more space.

“It will give your kitchen a shiny, polished look,” he joked.

If you want a darker look, go for pure black rather than dark gray and make sure there’s plenty of light for contrast, Ryan explained.

Of course, if you’re decorating for the purpose of selling, the rules are slightly different and you stick to bright neutral colors like white and begie.

Ryan added: “Soft shades of blue and green also work well to give the home a welcoming vibe. »

Ultimately, they might be better options for bedrooms or bathrooms because of the relaxing vibe they create.

If you want to brighten up your kitchen, oranges and yellows can be a great choice because of the exciting energy they can bring to a space.

There is one color people should avoid though.

Ryan advised homeowners not to paint their kitchens red: “These hues can cause feelings of danger, stress, fear and negativity.
