I’m an interior designer – what your interior design says about your personality, from “safe” to “pretentious” and looking old
WITH bold furniture and modern accent pieces in the mix, you might be well aware of the countless ways you can dress up your home if you love interior design.
And, from bohemian to cottage core, your preferences say a lot about who you are as a person, according to an interior expert.
In a video Criticizing various interior design trends, interior designer Reeves Connelly has revealed what different aesthetics can say about his lovers.
If you like the simplicity that minimalism offers with its monochromatic palette and simple furniture, Connelly said you’re picking the safest option.
“Maybe a little overrated, but still a good one,” he noted.
For lovers of the contrasting bohemian aesthetic, Connelly asked if you like it because it’s really good, or if you’re just “really excited.”
Regarding the trend towards eclectic maximalism, he simply asserted, “Okay, we get it, you like this one!”
With bare bulbs, graphic lines and repurposed materials, Connelly recognized that industrial decor isn’t for everyone.
But for those who embrace the style, Connelly said they’re “totally cold” that not everyone likes it that much.
For art deco lovers, the interior expert judged them as “in the classics”.
And, for lovers of the Tuscan style, Connelly dubbed them “old”, with people in traditional-style decor earning the title “really old”.
“Your social security number is two,” the reviewer told those who love the elegant moldings and carved wood that the neoclassical style encompasses.
“You’re a pretentious hipster,” he said of the bauhaus decoration enthusiasts.
As for the beach theme, Connelly saw admirers of this coastal aesthetic as fit for prison. “Officer, this is the one, right here,” he joked.
“Oh you’re cool, I like you,” the interior designer said of the Mediterranean lovers.
“No way, do you really know this one? Can we be friends?” he said about the rarer organic modern aesthetic.
For lovers of the luxury furnishings and furry accessories that glamorous decor affords, Connelly said it’s “just a phase” and they’ll grow out of it when they grow up.
In contrast, for the eclectic lovers of Memphis, he said “you’ll never grow up.”
“Oh, you picked this one to be different, how clever,” Connelly dismissed sarcastically.
“If you picked this one, you’re a liar. It’s nobody’s favorite,” he said of the farmhouse style.
And, for the grand finale, referencing mid-century decor with its clean lines, muted tones, graphic shapes and vibrant colors, Connelly claimed, “If you picked this one, you’re right. C ‘is the best.”
