Maruti Ertiga vs. Kia Carens in interior space comparison video

7-seater SUVs and MPVs are slowly attracting the attention of buyers in the Indian market and manufacturers like Maruti are selling Ertiga, a budget MPV that has been in the market for a very long time. It is considered a value for money option and is a popular minivan among commercial and private segment buyers. One of the newcomers to this CUV segment is Kia Carens. It is based on Kia Seltos and comes at a very competitive price. Here we have a video where the interior space and comfort of Kia Carens and Maruti Ertiga are compared.

The video was uploaded by Power-up wheel on their YouTube channel. The video begins with a vlogger talking about the engine options available with both vehicles. Maruti Ertiga is available with a naturally aspirated 1.5 liter gasoline engine and comes with a 4-speed manual and automatic transmission option. Kia Carens, on the other hand, offers three different options. There is a naturally aspirated 1.5 liter engine which comes with a manual gearbox and IVT. The engine offered is the 1.5 liter turbo diesel which comes with manual and automatic transmission. The third engine option is the 1.4 liter turbo petrol which comes with a 7-speed DCT and a manual gearbox.

Vlogger sits both in the SUV to show how spacious and comfortable the cars are. Vlogger starts with Kia Carens. The MUV provides ample legroom, back and thigh support. He mentions that Carens offers a commanding driving position. He mentions that there are several features available in Carens that are missing in Ertiga but, as this is not a feature comparison, he does not dwell on them further. The vlogger then sits down at Maruti Ertiga and he mentions that it offers decent space and the higher variants offer armrest, touchscreen infotainment system, multifunction steering wheel and other features as well. Ertiga has more of a car-like seating position, which is comfortable.

Then the vlogger moves to second place from Carens. Again, it talks about the amount of space available inside the cabin. The second row seats provide a comfortable seating position as they sit slightly higher than the driver giving a clear view of things outside. There’s a roof-mounted AC vent, and the center seat can be folded down easily to convert it into an armrest with two cupholders. Vlogger was very pleased with the space offered at Carens’ second row. Vlogger then sits down in Ertiga to reveal the space. Compared to Carens, the legroom and headroom was slightly less, but it wasn’t uncomfortable. Ertiga and Carens had roof mounted AC vents.

After that, the vlogger enters the third row. He had to slide one of the seats forward in Ertiga to gain access to the third row. Once seated in the third row, he mentions that Ertiga does not offer a comfortable seat for an adult. The headrest did not allow him to lean back and there was not enough legroom or headroom. Vlogger then sits inside Carens, which comes with one-touch power folding seats to access the third row. He immediately mentions that Carens offers better space in the third row. It’s not the best but compared to Ertiga, Carens felt better. Carens also offered air vents for the third row seats as well as cabin lights. Both cars offer less trunk space with all three rows of seats up. Vlogger mentions that both Ertiga and Carens are good in terms of space and comfort and it all depends on budget and preference.
