NYC Interior Designs in Zanesville

ZANESVILLE – It’s not often someone starts their career in New York and then comes to Zanesville, but that’s exactly what Ashley Moyer did.

“Family has always been important to me,” she said. “I had been away from home for too long, so I decided to return to my home state of Ohio from New York. That’s when I decided that it was time to go out on my own.

Ashley Moyer Interior Design was established in October 2013.

“My mission was to bring a holistic view of design to the Midwest,” she noted. “We’ve been in business for eight years now and it was absolutely the right decision. Drawing, creating and bringing these designs to life is in my blood.

Moyer grew up in Zanesville, graduated from Rosecrans High School in 2001, then earned a Bachelor of Arts in Interior Design from the New York School of Interior Design in New York City. She began her career creating residential interiors in New York and the Hamptons before returning home.

“I was very creative when I was a kid,” she recalls. “I loved drawing plans and building things. I liked to create and build on my own rather than playing with toys.

“I would say my love for interior design started around age 5 or 6,” she added. “I was designing and building my own dollhouses and creating floor plans on paper. In fifth grade, I skipped recess to work in the art room drawing perspectives and creating artwork.

Fast forward. Moyer now enjoys “creating a personalized space, tailored to the needs and desires of my client. We dream it together and then bring it to life as I did – and still do – with my dollhouses when I was little.

“For our customers,” she added, “we are dream makers, accomplices in crime – and sometimes obstacle runners when our suppliers face challenges. The absolute best part is when we’re standing in the finished space, all the touch-ups done, everything positioned that way, and the client is thrilled to see their dream space in the real world.

Take, for example, Laurie Kenley.

“I worked with Ashley on a complete renovation of the house I just purchased,” Kenley said. “She is a pleasure to work with and she has created a beautiful home for me.

“We took this place to the studs,” Kenley continued, “moved the walls, recreated the kitchen from scratch, installed an epic bathroom, etc. I couldn’t visualize the big picture, but Ashley could see it very clearly. and his drawings helped me to see it too. Seeing him reunite in real life was amazing. It’s honestly one of the coolest experiences I’ve ever had and now I can live here.

“Having my own business has been wonderful,” Moyer replied, “Personally and professionally, there’s nowhere I’d rather be, and I’m looking towards the next phase of this creative life.”
