Pixel foldable to sport a “full-screen” interior without a punch-hole camera

What do you want to know

  • A Google Pixel Fold leak has surfaced regarding its potential camera placement.
  • Rumors suggest that the Pixel Fold could have an ultra-micro-hole camera on the frame of the phone.
  • The Pixel Fold is rumored to be a more compact and cheaper phone compared to the Galaxy Fold 3 and the upcoming Fold 4.

Google’s potential new foldable is back in our minds as a new leak hints at an interesting camera position.

Rumors center on his potential camera position, which comes from the Weibo “Digital Chat Station” leaker (via Android Authority). According to what was loosely translated from the Weibo post, the back of the proposed foldable Pixel is more in line with the upcoming Pixel 7, suggesting that it will sport a camera visor with holes cut out for the camera sensors. Flipping it over, the front of the phone could be similar to the OPPO Find N with a “relatively small large screen” that folds inwards.

The lessor went on to describe the placement of the camera and the potential appearance of the display. Apparently, the outer screen could feature a center-mounted punch-hole display, which is normal for many large-screen foldables. However, the interior screen would have none, opting for a mostly uninterrupted display. Instead of a punch hole, the leaker suggests there will be an “ultra-micro-hole camera” placed in the frame of the phone.

This differs a bit from what we’ve seen in the foldable recently. If you were to look at one of the best foldable phones, it would probably feature a punch-hole style camera instead. Even the Galaxy Z Fold 3 has one, although Samsung has tried to minimize it with an under-display camera. It looks like Google is taking a potentially easier route for its internal display camera to give users a full-screen experience.

Previous rumors suggest that Google may opt for an 8MP sensor for the internal and external selfie cameras. Another leak also hints at a feature in the foldable Pixel that will allow users to use the rear sensors to take a selfie while still being able to preview the image.

The mention of an OPPO Find N-like design matches previous rumors that the foldable Pixel would be a smaller design when stacked against devices like the Galaxy Fold 3 – and the next Fold 4 could also be launched. only the phone could be more compact, but it could also see a cheaper price. The alleged threads also mention that the Pixel Fold could feature a disappointing 12MP sensor as its rear shooter, although as we saw with the Pixel 6a, the Tensor chip could do wonders for the camera.

For now, we’ll have to wait for the “official” renders to appear before we can get a clear idea of what the foldable Pixel will actually look like.
