Job Responsibilities

  • Leads the Interiors project team through close collaboration with SOM partners and project management to achieve design, technical and financial success.

  • Prepares, with management input, quality agreements with clients, including letters of intent, memorandums of understanding and professional service agreements. Executes additional service agreements and obtains phased authorization.

  • Collaborates with the leadership team to prepare, publish and manage compliance plans to align project objectives including budget, deliverables and schedule.

  • Administers internal control procedures with the project accountant, including billing, collections, percent complete, expense management, and year-end activities. Analyzes project reports and proactively manages the profitability of a project.

  • Actively participates in project design, technical discussions and decision making.

  • Actively communicates by chairing weekly meetings, posting meeting minutes, and maintaining accurate project records and sharing project information and correspondence.

  • Help manage owner/client relationship and expectations to enable SOM and team to work effectively, efficiently and collaboratively.

  • Participates in new business and marketing efforts, including responding to marketing inquiries and maintaining corporate relationships.

  • Initiates, monitors and maintains the project schedule and work plan, including schedule of meetings and presentations.

  • Actively engages in project risk management through close collaboration with SOM leadership and the legal group.

Management Responsibilities

  • Inspires and leads others by example, participates in the mentoring and training of staff, clearly defines expectations and responsibilities of team members, holds others accountable and delegates as appropriate, based on ability and time. recognized potential of team members.

  • Develops and/or manages, in collaboration with team members, a clear and coherent work plan to achieve the project budget, deliverables and schedule.

  • Actively participates in internal and external professional development opportunities.

  • Contributes to the implementation of sustainable strategies in all project assignments and the associated development of staff knowledge.

  • Contributes to the development of standards, policies and procedures.

Minimum qualifications

  • Completion of a five- or six-year degree program in interior design or architecture;

  • 8 or more years of indoor experience or equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities.

  • General understanding of sustainable strategies and principles, including knowledge of LEED or other green building rating systems.

  • Demonstrated ability to successfully lead project teams and manage project schedule, budget and schedule.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Understands and is proficient in Revit, AutoCAD, Rhino, parametric and rendering software and other graphics software.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office/Project, Adobe Suite.

  • Familiarity with Deltek Vision, Salesforce.

  • LEED accreditation preferred.
