Entertainment and lifestyle journalist Natalie Langston has always thrived on a sense of accomplishment. Growing up in suburban Vancouver, she participated in almost every sport and activity imaginable, including starting dance at age three and competing at age four.

“Dancing paved the way for my competitive edge, constant drive and motivation,” she says.

His career as a journalist is a childhood ambition come true. She remembers telling her 4th grade class that she wanted to be a presenter when she grew up. A recent feature on the site is a nice room-by-room tour of her home. When asked what her favorite room is, she replies without hesitation: “The games room of course! I put so much heart into this room with meaningful artwork, canvas photos of the boys, growth charts… carefully selected books for each of the boys. We spend many hours playing here. It’s the perfect space to be creative and imaginative together.

And what advice would she give to other busy parents balancing work, family and time for themselves?

“Coffee,” she laughs. “And ask your friends and family for help when you can! Don’t try to be a hero and do everything yourself, you’ll burn out faster than if you took matters into your own hands.

She also takes time for herself to relax and recharge as much as she can.

“Some days it’s yoga, running or spinning. Other days, if I just go out for a walk in the fresh air with Pierce and Bence, it makes me happy. It’s about being kind to your body and soul and really listening to give them what they need.

Maintaining her business and brand through pregnancy and parenthood taught Natalie a lot about balance, but the journey was definitely worth it.

“Before I had them, I couldn’t imagine the joy I would have to be with my children. My life has changed forever and I couldn’t be happier.

The 7 Sins

Urge:

What shoes would you like to walk in?

A woman in power who has the ability to effect change or lead the collective consciousness to a better place, like feminist journalist and activist Gloria Steinem. In addition to women’s rights, she helped fight to end oppressions she did not experience, including homophobia and racial inequality. She used her platform to talk about many taboo topics and give voice to others who were otherwise ignored. That’s what I hope to do one day.

Gluttony:

What is the food you could eat on top and

again?

New York cheesecake with fresh strawberries, a classic!

Greed:

You are given $1 million to spend selfishly. What would you spend it on?

A Disney cruise with my family in Hawaii to start! Then I would use the rest for therapeutic spa and skin care. Ahhh, regular massages and fabulous facials, and the best treatments from around the world focused on personal health, relaxation and rejuvenation!

Anger:

The black beasts?

When we go backwards instead of forwards when it comes to women’s rights. And any mistreatment of animals is intolerable to me!

The laziness:

Where would you spend long

Do nothing?

Walking along a warm, sunny white sand beach where I can clear my mind and feel free. I think my first choice would be Tahiti. Maybe I’ll do some yoga and meditation while I’m there. I could also spend hours sitting on a patio looking at the beach and ocean, reading an interior design book, and being perfectly happy.

Pride:

What’s the one thing you secretly are

proud of?

The growth I’ve made over the past few years, both personally and in my journey as a mother. After having my son Bence, I feel like I’ve really settled into this new layer of myself. I love juggling it all: work, motherhood, family life and everything in between.

Lust:

What makes your heart beat faster?

When I’m in front of the camera doing what I love: interviewing an exciting and remarkable person in our community who is making meaningful change in the world. When I held the mic for the first story I reported, I remember feeling alive, I felt purpose and a surge of energy. It confirmed to me that I was exactly where I needed to be, doing exactly what I loved the most!
