Luxury electric vehicles have been the hottest trending topic in 2022, and it’s still going on and on. All major automakers now have their luxury divisions. Luxury cars offer buyers a long list of amenities to enhance the buyer’s premium experience. However, since electric vehicles will soon replace ICE-powered vehicles, companies want to offer buyers luxury electric vehicles.
While companies such as Rolls-Royce, Bentley, Mercedes-Benz, Aston Martin and a few other European brands enjoy strong status in the market due to their ultra-luxury vehicles, Cadillac (the luxury division of General Motors) will prove itself. Last month, Cadillac introduced its Lyriq in response to the growing trend for luxury electric vehicles and to bolster its lost market glory, and now they’ve come up with the Celestiq.
After years of anticipation and plenty of teasers, Cadillac finally unveiled the “2025 Celestiq show car” on July 22, 2022. While we already had a small idea of the interior of the Celestiq through the images shared by General Motors, we were eager to know more. Fortunately, Cadillac provided us with more glimpses of the Celestiq’s interior after its July 22 launch, and no wonder we’re amazed at how good it looks.
Although we don’t know the price and launch date of Celestiq, we assume that it will be priced around $250,000 to $280,000 and will arrive in 2025. Therefore, it will compete with the Lucid Air, Mercedes-Benz EQS and Rolls-Royce Specter EV.
Cadillac certainly isn’t the first to bring an ultra-luxury EV to market, but they’ve kindly made up for its late arrival with the Celestiq concept. It is not only ultra-modern and sleek from the outside, but also offers a beautifully designed cabin. According to Magalie Debellis, director of Cadillac Advanced Design, “The Celestiq show car is the purest expression of Cadillac, bringing to life the most integrated expressions of design and innovation in the brand’s history, merged in a defining statement of a true Cadillac flagship.” This bold statement seems to be significant once you look at her cabin.
Cadillac designers made no compromises when designing the cabin, and they poured their years of knowledge and experience into the design of the cabin. As a result, the Celestiq’s cabin is remarkable and upscale in every way. According to Cadillac, their designers drew heavily on Eero Saarinen and his mid-century masterpieces. In addition, the designers were also inspired by 1957 El Dorado Brougham. This combination blends heritage elements with modern design languages, giving the cabin a beautiful and timeless look.
The cabin of the Celestiq offers a warm and comfortable experience
Cadillac has made sure to offer Celestiq buyers the highest level of comfort. To do this, they have equipped the cabin with one of the best seats available on the market. The color red has often been associated with royalty, comfort and status. That said, designers have adorned Celestiq’s cabin with red-colored materials. The dashboard, door panels, seats as well as the floor mats are all upholstered in red, which gives it a sophisticated feel and look and provides a warm touch. Additionally, the cabin will be finished with perforated aluminum trim, which will not only hide the speaker and air conditioning vents, but also provide a premium look.
The cabin offers seating for four and the seats are among the best in the segment in terms of comfort, space and functionality. They are upholstered in perforated red leather and upholstered with ample padding for comfort. Although we don’t know how much space and functionality they offer, we expect the seats to offer plenty of room in the front and back. As for features, we expect the seats to have at least 12 levels of power adjustment as well as heating and cooling functions. Memory and massage functions, extended thigh support, lumbar support and heated front armrest may also be included. The rear seats will offer enough space and features such as power reclining function, heating and cooling function, as well as heated armrests.
As is the case with luxury cars, the Celestiq’s cabin will feature special materials to provide a sophisticated ambience for passengers. Speaking of design first, the dashboard looks futuristic with two display designs. The instrument cluster is dominated by an advanced 55-inch interactive LED panel that houses a fully digital driver’s side instrument cluster, a main center touchscreen for media and a separate front passenger side display. In addition to this, the lower part of the dashboard features another touchscreen which will house the car’s controls, such as driving modes, battery life and other vital information. In addition, the 55-inch LED panel will be equipped with a digital blind designed to ensure passenger privacy.
Additionally, Cadillac has also fitted the cabin with a smart glass roof with four zones of variable lighting configuration. This will allow occupants to customize the amount of light entering the cabin according to their preferences. For entertainment, Cadillac also equipped the rear seats with a separate infotainment system. The rear seats will feature a pair of 12.6-inch touchscreens as well as HDMI and USB ports and a pair of Bluetooth headphones. Additionally, the cabin will feature the same 36-speaker AKG premium audio system as the Escalade.
The flagship offered by Cadillac will certainly be a promising luxury electric sedan on the market. It will offer customers many intricacies and extensive customization options. Additionally, GM will invest $81 million to build a global technical center in Warren, Michigan, where the Cadillac Celestiq will be manufactured. Additionally, Cadillac will produce and sell a limited number of Celestiqs to maintain exclusivity.
